SunTouch Electric Radiant Floor Heating Advises You on Plants For Your Home
SunTouch Electric Radiant Floor Heating is concerned with indoor air quality, which is why we have been researching plants which can help improve the air in your home. The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports that while most of spend 90% of our time indoors, indoor air quality is often far worse than the outdoor air in the dirtiest urban centers. One thing you can do to improve your air quality at once is to buy heating mats. Switching to radiant floor heat can dramatically improve indoor air quality, since electric floor heating systems do not store mold and bacteria in air ducts. Radiant floor heating systems also do not release emissions or burn fibers in your home, the way traditional heating systems can.
In addition to radiant floor heat systems, you can also introduce plants to your home to improve air quality. Research has proven that plants can help in a number of situations:
1) If you have plastics, rubber, dyes, detergents, inks, industrial or heavy oils, paints or enamels, gasoline, tobacco, or synthetic fibers in your home, these products can release a toxin called benzene. Plants that can offset the effects of benzene include English Ivy, Gerbera daisy, Janet Craig, Marginata, Warneckei, Chrysanthemum, Dracaena, Massangeana, Peace lily, Spathiphyllum, and Golden Pothos.
2) If you have grocery bags, waxed paper, foam insulation, plywood, fire retardants, carpeting, spray air fresheners, tobacco smoke and natural gas heating systems in your home, you may have formaldehyde in your home as a result. Plants that can offset the harmful effects of formaldehyde include Corn plant, Devil's Ivy, Ficus trees, Azalea, Bamboo palm, Chrysanthemum, Golden pothos, Snake plant, Spider plant, Boston fern, Gerbera daisy, Mother-in-Law's Tongue, Philodendron, and Dwarf date palm.
3) If you have adhesives, typewriter correction fluids, printing inks, lacquers, varnishes, paint strippers, spot removers and rug-cleaning fluids in your home, you may be exposed to trichloroethylene. You can combat the harmful effects of this toxin by adding plnats such as Marginata, Warneckei, Chrysanthemum, Dracaena, Gerbera daisy, and Peace Lily into your home.
4) If you have computer screens, paints, gasoline, adhesives, some aerosol air fresheners, ceiling tiles, photocopier inks and toners, stains and varnishes, and upholstery in your home, you may be exposed to toluene or xylene. You can offset some of the harmful effects of these chemicals by bringing Areca palm, Moth orchid, and Dwarf date palm into your home.
5) If you have gas space heaters, chimneys and furnaces, gas water heaters, wood stoves, fireplaces, gas stoves, gas powered generators, or vehicle exhaust in your home, you may be exposed to carbon monoxide, an odorless and potentially lethal gas. You can often greatly reduce your carbon monoxide exposure by switching your heating system to radiant floor heat, which does not produce dangerous gases. You can also add the following plants to your home to offset some of the harmful effects of carbon monoxide: Chrysanthemum, Peace lily, English ivy, Chinese evergreen, Bamboo palm, Philodendron, Spider plant, Corn plant, Golden Pothos, Gerbera daisy, Snake plant, Dracaena, and Janet Craig.
